How do I count how many weeks pregnant I am?
Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period, not from conception, so you're already about two weeks pregnant when you conceive. Count the days since then and divide by seven to get weeks and days. If you know your due date, take the days left until it away from 280. A full-term pregnancy is about 40 weeks.

How it's calculated
- Due date = first day of last period + 280 days, adjusted for cycle length, or the due date you enter.
- Weeks pregnant = 280 days − days left until the due date, shown as weeks and days.
- Trimester 1 = up to 13 weeks 6 days, trimester 2 = 14 weeks to 27 weeks 6 days, trimester 3 = from 28 weeks.
- Months follow the usual 9-month grouping of weeks (see the weeks to months calculator).

Should I use my last period or my due date?
Use the due date from your doctor or midwife if you have one, especially if it came from an early ultrasound. It's usually more accurate than a period date.
What happens after 40 weeks?
Many babies arrive between 37 and 42 weeks. Your doctor or midwife will talk to you about what happens if you go past your due date.
